We continue to make significant advances in automation and efficiencies for offshore cable and pipeline installation, joining, monitoring and mapping benefiting the operators, survey and installation teams. We are excited to demonstrate the first of many application solutions from our 3D MATT (Multiple Automated Target Tracking) technology development which in this market provides real-time 3D intelligent automated Touch Down Point (TDP) tracking and reporting. The 3D MATT technology is used in conjunction with our range of real-time 3D Volumetric Imaging Sonars, the Echoscope®, to provide not only the live 3D data of the cable catenary, adjacent seabed and visual TDP reference, but the new automated TDP tracker. Additionally, the 3D MATT Tracker can be used for windfarm 1st and 2nd end pull in monitoring, cable joining and quadrant laydown.
The majority of our Cable and Pipe lay customers also rely on our 3D Integrated Pan & Tilt (IPT) system to allow dynamic positioning of the Echoscope to focus on different parts of the seabed or cable catenary as required, or to adjust for changes in the vessel pose caused by sea conditions or track alignment. The IPT was previously controlled manually by the operator as required but following the recent release of the Automatic Pan & Tilt Tracker in CodaOctopus® Underwater Survey Explorer (USE) Version 8 and this new 3D MATT technology, it is now possible to fully automate the positioning control of the IPT using the real-time TDP tracker data – maintaining the TDP point at the centre of the Echoscope view irrespective of vessel motion.
The user will be able to track the entire cable lay process at rates up to 20Hz or as frequently as determined by the project requirements and full visual guidance and tracked positional data is fully available for all operators and users of the system.
