The Echoscope real-time 3D volumetric sonar technology can be used for both initial scans to protect the safety of the diver as well as support and control of the diver while in the field. The Echoscope and CodaOctopus^® Underwater Survey Explorer (USE) software produce live, 3D rapid environmental assessments (REA) of the area of interest. The additional module Baseline Comparison automatically compares on-line data with previously recorded and stored data of the same survey area in order to make immediate comparisons and to identify underwater features that have either been added or removed.

The Echoscope can either be mounted on a subsea Diver Propulsion Vehicle to give real-time 3D visualization for use as a navigation aid in turbid waters or at night, or mounted on a surface vehicle feeding a situational real-time 3D image directly onto a heads up display in the divers’ helmet.
