Echoscope meets the criteria for IHO Grade Survey (IHO S-44) standard
Following extensive use of our patented real-time 3D sonar system, the Echoscope® in a growing range of critical market applications for our clients, demand for use of the Echoscope® for complimentary survey mapping tasks has grown significantly. The Echoscope® is at its core a phased array multibeam, albeit a real-time volumetric multibeam, and with accuracy of data around a few centimeters, we expected that the data and results achievable should match IHO Survey requirements.
We are pleased to say that we have now conducted the necessary survey and research work to confirm that the Echoscope® has been shown to be capable of comfortably achieving bathymetric survey data that meets the various orders of IHO S-44 standard under what can be regarded as typical survey conditions. Through the use of the in-built post-processing steps in our Underwater Survey Explorer software package we can further meet the highest of these orders (Special Order). Although the Echoscope® is often primarily used for real-time camera work – since it produces real-time 3D images – its bottom detection algorithms do not assume a single height per XY position. The sonar therefore is not designed exclusively as a multibeam device, but nonetheless can be used as a bathymetric tool.
