Innovations at Edinburgh Conference
This year’s Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters Conference at the International Conference Centre in Edinburgh included a technical paper co-written by CodaOctopus Products and Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors. CodaOctopus also had a technical exhibition stand. The annual Breakwaters Conference is organised by the Institute of Civil Engineers and it addresses the design, performance, installation and maintenance of breakwaters, sea walls, jetties, piers and beach control structures. The event also covers the latest material in the design and installation of structures for extracting marine and wind energy around near shore seas and coasts. We are delighted that our technical paper was selected from over 210 abstracts submitted for the conference. Entitled “Innovative Technique for Single Layer Armour Unit Placement: An Example of Increased Production Efficiency Whilst Improving Health and Safety” the paper describes the breakwater armouring work at the newly-expanded LNG terminal at Ras Laffan, Qatar.Co-written by Stephen Auld (CodaOctopus) and Peter van Geldere (Van Oord), the presentation includes examples, photographs, statistics, comparisons, software screenshots and data which demonstrate the advantages brought to the project by the Coda Echoscope 3D real-time sonar.Click here for information about the Coda Echoscope 3D real-time sonar system.
