New 4G CodaOctopus® Underwater Survey Explorer ("4G USE")
Real-Time 3D Multi-viewpoint Imaging with Multi-sonar Support
We are pleased to announce that we are releasing our new and re-developed fourth generation (4G) of our Underwater Survey Explorer application software for beta trials. This 4G USE beta trial is open to all customers who are currently using our existing Underwater Survey Explorer ("USE") software, irrespective of versions.
Our existing feature-rich USE, which is the standard top-end software used with our real-time 3D Sonars, has been in the market for over 15 years. USE offers live acquisition imaging and mapping, processing and deliverable capabilities, and dedicated applications for key markets such as our Construction Monitoring System (CMS) edition for breakwater management and block placement. Designed for a single 3D sonar system configuration, our existing USE allows our customers to perform a wide array of real-time imaging and mapping.
Four years ago, we started the task of redeveloping the current USE software with the primary goal to leverage advancements in processing capabilities, improved user-experience and task-oriented work-flow, along with extending the software to support multiple sonar devices.
Our 4G USE, trialling now as a beta version, provides immediate benefits to our existing customers with its powerful multi-viewpoint imaging. The ability to view real-time 3D sonar imagery from multiple, independent viewpoints allows much greater and more effective decision-making in nearly all applications. Additionally, 4G USE simplifies real-time 3D measurements, patch test and provides independent data views tailored to each user requirement.
A major advance in our 4G USE is the capability to support multiple devices simultaneously, including multiple real-time 3D sonars, multiple integrated pan and tilts (IPT), and multiple merged navigation inputs. Our 4G USE allows users to display these multiple images in one or more consolidated, real-time 3D view(s). This support extends to multiple devices on the same platform as well as multiple independent platforms, such as multiple Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs) or a survey vessel and ROV. The consolidated display of multiple 3D sonars allows for, amongst other things, much greater swath coverage; complementary angular views around objects such as:
- Pipeline survey and inspection
- Cable laying with views from vessel and ROV, and contrasting views of a scene
- Forward and rear views from a vehicle, such as an ROV or AUV
The 4G USE beta version does not yet have the full complement of features and capabilities of the previous version of USE, which was developed over 15 years. We are currently developing and extending the feature set in the 4G USE platform.
4G USE is now available for customer beta trials.
4G USE is fully backward compatible with the previous version of USE, and data acquired in 4G USE can be exported for replay and processing in USE. This trial is open for all customer who are using USE, irrespective of versions.
As the new 4G USE is very different from the previous version of USE, we recommend E-training by Coda Octopus Products prior to commencement of your trial. Additionally, 4G USE is supplied with quick demonstration videos to get you started.
The full launch of 4G USE will be October 2019.
